Reed valves control the exchange process in the inlet area, open during the intake process and closed during the pre-compression in the crankcase. How quickly the process happens has significant influence on the throttle response of the engine.
As standard, most blocks are sluggish or even fitted with steel plates. this has 2 disadvantages, 1 being the engine is less responsive and 2 being that steel plates can cause severe damage to the engine when they break up whereas carbon reeds are just spat out of the the exhaust.
Malossi carbon reeds for the VL6 Sport and VL15 reed blocks in various thicknesses. Set of 3 thicknesses supplied: 0.30mm / 0.35mm and 0.40mm
