However, these variations do not compromise the functionality of the belts.
Different industry standards define length specifications using parameters such as external length (Le), internal length (Li), and pitch length, which is measured at approximately 3/4 height of the belt according to DIN 2215. Additionally, the belt tension requirements specified by the vehicle manufacturer should be considered for accurate length measurement, greatly influencing the production process.
Due to differing measuring methods, multiple V-belt dimensions from different manufacturers can appear on the same vehicle. It’s essential to rely solely on our vehicle assignments for compatibility.
Particularly for Piaggio scooters, pay special attention to the oil pump belt following a broken V-belt. Fragments from a damaged V-belt can lead to significant issues within the engine housing, potentially affecting the oil pump belt. Since the oil pump belt is positioned behind the variomatic and is not immediately visible, investigating its condition is vital. If damaged, it should be replaced immediately, as a compromised oil pump belt can lead to severe engine damage, including piston seizure!
