DRIVE BELT JTBELT Standard

The DRIVE BELT JTBELT Standard is engineered to provide reliable performance across various applications. Different measurement and production methods used by V-belt manufacturers can result in varying length specifications. However, these differences do not compromise the functionality of the belts.

Industry standards dictate that different parameters are utilized to determine length specifications, which includes external length (Le), internal length (Li), and pitch length. The pitch length is defined as the length measurement at approximately 3/4 height of the belt in accordance with DIN 2215.

It is crucial to consider the belt tension specified by the vehicle manufacturer for accurate length measurement, as it significantly impacts the production process. Variations in V-belt dimensions may arise from different manufacturers within the same vehicle.

For Piaggio scooters, particular attention should be given to the oil pump belt following a broken V-belt. Fragments from a broken V-belt can enter the engine housing, potentially damaging the oil pump belt, which is located behind the variomatic and is not easily visible. We recommend inspecting the condition of the oil pump belt and replacing it if necessary, as a damaged oil pump belt can lead to piston seizure!
