The alternators are available as AC and DC version:

  • AC = alternating current = light via alternator
  • DC = direct current = light via battery

The AC version is best suited for conversion to a good electronic ignition. In this case, the vehicle electrical system is basically maintained as Innocenti has conceived it, although the best way is to use a fresh cable harness.

DC
Conversion to DC only makes sense with simultaneous conversion to an adequately dimensioned battery (from 5Ah). The required full wave regulator is included in the corresponding AC set, please order the battery separately. The advantage is the perfect light without flickering, already in idle speed. TIP: The DC ignition can also be used as AC ignition at any time. For this purpose connect the red/yellow cable to ground. The yellow cable should then be connected as a live cable to a conventional voltage regulator (e.g. BGM6690).

The ignition kits are available for both crankshaft types of the Lambretta Series 3 models:

Note: The BGM ignition has been carefully designed and harmonizes perfectly with all common ignition components, especially with the BGM pole wheel.
To ensure that the BGM ignition always finds optimal conditions, we include with the version 4.0 spacer plates for the pickup. With this the base plate can also be combined with pole wheels whose trigger surface height (demolition surface of the pick-up) is outside the standard (e.g. AF pole wheels) or if tolerances of the engine housing and/or crankshaft overlap unfavourably.
