For mirrors without a test mark, the mirror surface must be at least 60 cm2 for first registration after January 1, 1990, according to the StVZO. For a round mirror, for example, this corresponds to a diameter of around 87 mm. If the first registration is after January 1, 1998, 68 cm2 is required.
